Light for life was a project concerning about the health issue of people living in slum area behind USTC and in USTC campus. Our main motto was doing their blood grouping and let them know about the necessity of knowing the blood group and also letting them know about several health concerns and also collecting blood donor names.
The project was 3 days project. We organized the program in two parts.
Blood Grouping and Rising Awareness:
We identified the blood group of about 250 Men & Women and also told them what blood group means and if they know their blood group, they can help others instantly in time of their crisis. It was little bit of surprising to us that they had absolutely no idea about blood group and how it can be identified! Even they had no idea about why blood test is necessary before giving or taking one’s blood.
We were in two groups for blood grouping section with professional medical lab technologist and a Medical intern. And all procedure was followed by their instruction and we maintained proper hygiene.
We also visited almost 50 houses in that 3 days and tried to convince them about their children education facility so they able to understand why education is important! We also told them about the necessity of their healthy life, govt. hospital facility, their right in health issue and the food menu for a mother to expect a healthy baby.
We have collected about 300 names of blood donor from USTC campus. They are healthy and regular blood donor. We have collected it to make a list so we can help someone in crisis by giving them desirable blood donor names. This campaign was placed in USTC premises after taking authorities permission.
